TubeSizer – A Youtube Plugin for Chrome

I’m pleased to announce the first heavily alpha release of TubeSizer is ready.

You can download the extension here:

TubeSizer v0.1 Alpha (Chrome Plugin File)
Looks like chrome won’t let people install this straight from my site. I’ll be getting it on the app store when it’s out of alpha, but for now follow these steps:

  1. Right Click Link & Save As…
  2. Type chrome://extensions in the address bar in chrome.
  3. Drag & Drop the .crx file into the newly opened window.
  4. Presto! Installed!

So now that that’s out of the way you’re probably wondering what the heck that is. Well in response to my post about 720p players in youtube I have decided I should just roll this into a chrome plugin to save the 2-step process of using a user style plugin and updating a script. I also have some pretty interesting ideas to add to the plugin in the future so keep tuned.

How does it work?

Simply install the plugin and open the options page (or click the little movie clapper icon in the address bar when on a youtube video page to access the options page). From here you can enable/disable the options you want and set the sizes you want. Once you’ve adjusted these options all you need to do is refresh / visit a youtube video and they should all be playing at the size you wanted.
